Algiers is a band of musicians born in Atlanta, Georgia, the rotten hub of the Ol’ American South, where W.E.B. Dubois once saw a riot goin’ on, and where the hell and highwater swirls ‘round to the knees.

Rising from the ashes of local favorites The Raymond Brake, Geezer Lake, and Decoration Ghost, the original members of The Kneads came together to write music to distract themselves from the stresses of everyday life. The focus was on the process of songwriting; there was no plan to play outside of the shed. Songs came together quickly and with them came the itch to play live. The Kneads were born. Their debut album, “Letting You Let Me Down” was released in 2015 on Potluck Records.

Members have come and gone. Things change, but stay the same. With the addition of Melvin Holland and Josh Peek who have joined original members Michael Joncas and Joe Garrigan, The Kneads are back with their new release “When Nothing’s Going
Right, Go Left” also released on Potluck Records and available on CD and digital formats on September 1, 2017.
“When Nothing’s Going Right, Go Left” was recorded at Duck Kee Studio with Jerry Kee and at Legitimate Business with Kris Hilbert. The Kneads wear their influences on their sleeves, haunted by ghosts of the bands they love. Both Hilbert and Kee helped chisel The Kneads sound to build a sonic wave that pays homage to the likes of Fugazi, Husker Dü, Superchunk and The Cure. The Kneads have shared the stage with many incredible bands including Beach Slang, Lee Baines & The Glory Fires, Positive No, Diarrhea Planet, Spider Bags, Ne-Hi, State Champion, Big Bliss, Blunt Bangs and Caustic Cassanova. With the new release comes more shows, starting with a set at The Hopscotch Festival in Raleigh, North Carolina.
