BEFORE THE BRAVE
Before the Brave emerged from a strangely quiet San Francisco music scene in 2012 with unexpected acclaim behind their first release, a 5 song EP entitled Great Spirit. As the quintet expanded their humble fanbase with consistent local headliners, Noise Pop festival appearances, and a series of west coast tours, a handful of lineup changes led to significant stylistic shifts in their sonic identity. Over the next few years the collective took a decisive step into the unknown, leaving their folk-americana roots for a larger, more ambitious alternative rock sound that draws on the likes of classics Fleetwood Mac as well as contemporaries The Head and the Heart and The Alabama Shakes. And the risk paid off.
The band, now composed of original members vocalist/guitarist Jason Stevens, drummer Kyle Teese, and vocalist/keyboardist Beth Garber, along with newcomers Ryan Devisser on guitar and Miguel Castuera on bass, displayed newly cultivated songwriting capabilities that landed 2014's single "Free" in a handful of television placements and widespread circulation on indie music blogs.
The Singing Limbs (EP release party!)
The Singing Limbs is a San Francisco based quartet formed in 2014 by guitarist/vocalist Cameron Gibbons and drummer/percussionist Mike DeLuccia. In 2016, bassist Dominic Colombini and keyboardist Josh Greenberger joined the group to craft their first studio release, "Mint". Inspired by influences from psych to surf, soul to rock: The Singing Limbs have achieved a unique and diverse sound. Studio recordings offer nuanced pocket grooves, while live shows burst with energy and ambitious improvisation.
Madi Sipes & the Painted Blue
Madi Sipes and the Painted Blue is a band from San Francisco, fronted by singer and electric guitarist, Madi Sipes. With her captivating voice and mature songwriting, Madi started gaining fans at a young age in her hometown of Placerville, California. While performing one of her songs at a summer camp talent show, Madi caught the attention of counselor and Los Angeles-based songwriter Andrew Heringer. The two began long-distance collaboration over the next few years, while Andrew was performing and touring in the band Milo Greene.
In the spring of 2015, Madi recruited longtime friends Nick Cunningham (bass) and Caleb Koen (drums) to form her band. The band traveled to Los Angeles to finish writing and recording the final few songs for Madi Sipes and the Painted Blue’s forthcoming debut: After Hours. Pulling from a diversity of influences -- including Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Ocean and Fleet Foxes -- After Hours showcases what The Sacramento Bee describes as “feisty and sultry indie soul pop."
