Capitol Bones All-Brass Big Band
Twenty five years ago, five of the top trombonists from the Washington DC area teamed up to expand the repertoire for their instrument. They called themselves the Capitol Bones, a trombone band band with a modern twist. The group played successfully throughout the country and as far away as California, Texas and Alaska. They came up with another idea—expand into an all-brass big band, and revisit the creative world of Stan Kenton featuring music the 1961 album “A Merry Christmas.” The only group to receive a blessing from the Stan Kenton estate, The Capitol Bones All-Brass Big Band has become a DC Holiday tradition. Featuring vocalist Darden Purcell and new arrangements, this dynamic performance will be an event you will want to see and hear each year.
DARDEN PURCELL is a Washington D.C. based jazz vocalist.
