U+NFest 7 - Day 1

U+NFest 7 - Day 1

U+NFest is Unregistered Nurse Booking's annual two-day festival, showcasing every possible expression of punk between local, national, and international acts. Over seven years, U+NFest has included acts such as Waxahatchee, Screaming Females, ESG, The Gories, Snail Mail, Moss Icon, Downtown Boys, Nothing, Night Birds, Chain and the Gang, Pure Disgust, Sheer Mag, Iron Reagan, Weekend, Angel Du$t and many more. The festival began in 2012, and takes place every October at Baltimore's Ottobar. Each night, bands play on the floor and stage in Ottobar's main room, while DJs spin between sets. At the upstairs bar, events such as the premiere screening of "Cave Girls and Trashy Fashions: Unseen Videos by Post Punk Women", "Punk is a Drag" Drag Night, "Save your Soul" Dance Night and Punks is Blacks take over.

Shannon And The Clams

Over the last decade, Shannon and her chief collaborator, guitarist Cody Blanchard, have released four albums of 60s-inspired pop on indie labels, toured tirelessly and have gradually solidified a lineup of devoted Bay Area musicians, Nate Mahan on drums and Will Sprott on keyboards. Nate has played keyboard, guitar and drums in various Bay Area bands for a decade, and Will has served as front man and songwriter for his band the Mumlers and more recently his solo project, Will Sprott, releasing records on his own Hairdo Records. In this current iteration, Shannon and the Clams have developed notoriety for lively and genuine stage performances and a zealous following that craves their particular authenticity and innovation on classic sounds. Their last record, Gone by the Dawn, arrived in fall 2015 and took them to Coachella and Hardly Strictly Bluegrass in the year following. On the album you can hear the band progressing from straight 60s-inspired rock and exploring their taste for psychedelic, dramatic throwback pop.

NYC Fast Rock N Roll

Des Demonas

On its fifth album, Baltimore’s Romantic States light a small yet inextinguishable fire. "Corduroy In Italy" captures the minimalist rock group’s undefeatable spirit. It is nothing new for a small duo like Romantic States to sound huge, as they often do. But it is rare to hear a twosome like this. Drummer Ilenia Madelaire and guitarist Jim Triplett (they both sing) have a considerate collaboration that does not hide the beauty of simplicity. There is a seamless responsiveness in their playing. This is music made with soulful intent, inspired by those who prefer one note over two.

Rock band from Chicago, IL

From the fog, pop prevails. Members Emily Kempf, Eric McGrady and Jason Balla formed Dehd in the Summer of 2 thousand 15. Kempf and Balla's vocals meet and depart over wiggling guitar licks and the lazy rhythms of McGrady's stand-up drum kit. Dizzy days and desert nights are the stuff dreams are made of, as are the musical recordings Dehd have assembled.
