Maribou State (live)
1115 U Street NW
Washington, DC, 20009
This event is 18 and over
Two years ago, Maribou State had just been signed off the back of a mix they put online. Now, they're about to release an official remix of Fatboy Slim's 'Praise You', count Bonobo, Pete Tong and Diplo as fans and have found themselves spearheading a new wave of fresh British producers.
In 2011 the duo were discovered by Fat! Records and put out their debut release, the 'Olivia' EP. A bootleg of Lauryn Hill followed, which racked up thousands of plays on YouTube and got airtime on Radio 1, 1Xtra and XFM.
Their watershed moment came when they signed to Southern Fried in 2012, first releasing a remix of Crookers' 'Hummus', which hit the top of the Hype Machine chart, and then the 'Native' EP, which was given 10/10 by Mixmag. Next single 'Scarlett Groove' (featuring Saint Saviour) grabbed more radio play and a remix of Ultraista's 'Gold Dayzz' got over 200,000 SoundCloud plays and #1 on Hype Machine again.
This year has seen Maribou State drop 'Mask' on Catz 'N Dogz's Pets imprint as well as finishing off their new single for Southern Fried. Right now, they're preparing for festival and headline shows and are putting together a full live set with a tour of America booked for September.
