Stones Throw Presents: Jerry Paper, Kiefer, Prophet & Stimulator Jones
740 Water Street SW
Washington, DC, 20024
Doors 7:00 PM / Show 8:00 PM
Jerry Paper is known for his left-field, synth-pop songs that recall oddball kindred spirits like Ariel Pink and Connan Mockasin. Jerry will release his Stones Throw debut this fall, co-produced by members of BadBadNotGood.
Kiefer is a pianist and producer on Stones Throw Records. He is also a frequent collaborator with others: a constant in Mndsgn's live trio, shared the stage with Moses Sumney and Terrance Martin, and lent production talents to the likes of Kaytranada and Anderson .Paak
He began playing piano as a child and producing beats at around age twelve, moving from San Diego to L.A. to study under renowned jazz guitarist Kenny Burrell at UCLA’s Jazz Studies program. There, he started thinking about the connection between the jazz piano he studied and the beats he created outside of school. While his peers were performing over live instrumentation, Kiefer produced electronic beats free from sampled melodies or drum breaks.
Prophet is an underground 80s synth funk singer/musician who garnered a cult following from one private-press, self produced LP he put out in 1984 called Right On Time which now goes for $200 in stores. Stones Throw has now just released his second album ever, pairing him up w/ labelmate Mndsgn.
Stimulator Jones, is a Virginia-based RnB crooner who shreds on the guitar and plays every instrument on his debut record recently released via Stones Throw. His music dips in and out of classic 80s and 90s R&B styles-- capturing the heady feel of Keith Sweat, K-Ci and Jojo, and Guy.
