Matt Bailer is a DC-based DJ who favors house, nu-disco, indie dance, and the 90s. He is one of the two DJs who co-founded MIXTAPE, and he also started the monthly 90's party PEACH PIT which has been a DC nightlife staple for 8 years. He is currently a resident DJ at Nellie's Sports Bar and La Boum Brunch, and has had frequent recurring appearances at most of DC's gay hotspots including Town, Trade, and Cobalt. In addition to the honor of being asked to perform opening sets for artists including Robyn, Kiesza, Marina & The Diamonds, and Diplo, Matt has recently been spreading his sound to dancefloors in Denver (Larimer Lounge), San Francisco (QBar, Lookout, Top The Hole @ Underground SF), and NYC (Nowhere Bar, C'mon Everybody, and HOT RABBIT'S BAD HABIT party @ Brooklyn's Lot45).
MIXTAPE, one of DC's longest-running dance parties, is celebrating its 10th anniversary and finale. Resident DJs Matt Bailer and Shea Van Horn have been making DC dance at their award-winning event for the past decade. The party got its start at the small incubator space Dahlak and ended up playing to sold-out crowds at the 9:30 Club. MIXTAPE is coming to an end as we know it--a regularly scheduled monthly party. But it's not to say that it won't pop up now and then. Come celebrate and dance under the mirror ball one last time as the duo plays an eclectic mix of indie-dance, electro-pop, house, and throwbacks.
