Justin Jay (live)
1115 U Street NW
Washington, DC, 20009
This event is 18 and over
Justin stumbled into the world of house music at the age of 8 with Daft Punk's Discovery, after studying classical piano for several years. He got his first big break in 2010 when he won a DJ contest sponsored by DJ Mag. Justin was invited to play at the 2010 DJ Mag Top 100 party in London, opening for Afrojack, Laidback Luke, Fedde Le Grand and others, but could not perform because he was under 18. Off the momentum from the contest, Justin landed an apprenticeship at Atlantic Records with DJ Frank E working on dance-infused pop and hip-hop. With a true calling for groovey deep house and raunchy tech, Justin is back to making all sorts of strange electronic music within the underground scene of the industry.
A hugely talented producer from a young age, Justin Jay has been continuously gaining traction in the EDM scene for his off-kilter and groovy take on deep and tech house. As the youngest artist on Claude VonStroke’s Dirtybird Records label, Justin Jay has successfully surpassed every musical expectation set out for him, while managing to keep his sound quirky and impossible to replicate. His most recent single, "Can't Hang," written and sung by Jay himself, is a breezy, vocoder-laden cut with a wonderfully danceable edge. We can't wait to welcome Justin Jay to the club this summer.
